In Recognition Of Lent
Follow my blog with Bloglovin
I've never really done anything special for Lent, at all. As I'm getting on up in age and getting deeper into my walk with Christ and spirituality, I realized that I should start. It's funny that while I was at lunch earlier with my friend Cora over from the MFer, she brought up Lent and the things that she'd be giving up. I swear, we're literally the same person... Like it's scary how much we're on the same page at times.
Anyway, she gave me a suggestion as to what I should do for Lent, on top of what I was already planning, she said, "... for Lent you should...":
01 | GIVE UP SHOPPING
Needless to say, we literally went back and forth laughing for a solid 10 minutes telling myself how I wouldn't be able to do it. She knows I love shopping way too much and for my blog, I literally have to. I love shopping more than I love food. Like literally... if I have a few extra coins laying around, I'm buying a shirt before I eat. I felt a little better when she told me that I could get no more than 10 items for the duration of Lent, and I can't spend more than $60 on them collectively.
I feel like this is going to be great to tackle because it'll force me to be creative with what's in my close and actually creating looks from the things that I already own AND it'll also save me so much money. I'm so looking forward to sharing this journey with you guys.
But for myself, I've decided to:
02 | DO DAILY ACTS OF KINDNESS
A few years back, I made it my mission to go out each Friday and do something for someone. I'd go pick up a card and write a nice note and put a few dollars inside, I'd then just place it on a random stranger's wind sheild and sometimes, I'd sit back and watch for their reaction. Others, I'd just drive off.
Doing those random acts of kinds made me feel more alive and warmed my heart that I could make someone's day from doing a small gesture like that. I feel like Lent isn't always about giving up or sacrificing something, it's about making ourself a better person in the process. I'm super excited about this one, I think I'm going to head out to target and just buy a pack of cards.
Consistency isn't my strong suit but I'm definitely excited for this journey! I hope I can make it.
